Relaxing A Bit More

I have to say that I am learning to relax a bit better in the last week. I thought by sitting at my dinning room table clicking away with my knitting was quite relaxing already. But in reality I needed to take it one step further. I needed to create a cozy corner in my living room. What got me to take the leap there? hmmm It was seeing a picture of another online blogging knitter with a sweet picture of her knitting on her couch looking all comfy and cozy. Also there was one other inspiration. I had my lovely rosewood trunk, that I restored with my dad when I was in high school, come out of storage. Yes, that future bathroom is no longer holding this beautiful trunk hostage anymore. I had it in storage for many years feeling all concerned that a little boy would fall and hurt themselves on the metal pointy corners. But I came to a revelation that I no longer have any more "little" boys, lol. My youngest boy is now ten years old. So I think I can loosen up on this a bit. I now noticed myself feeling all content, cozy, and happy clicking away in my new little knitting corner. I find myself asking...why didn't I do this sooner? Oh well, I am there now and getting better at relaxing. What a simple thing but a wonderfully BIG thing that has made difference.

  1. LOVE it! That is so special and it's those kind of things that make a house a home.

    If you have a young one come to visit, just throw a big folded quilt over the top of the box to protect from bumps and to protect the wood from things like hot wheels cars :)

  3. Oh Mary...this is just precious! What a great idea :) I have something like this but it contains my fabrics and my treadle...but when I am in my sewing corner, I feel content and at ease with my world :-) {grin}

  5. Mary,

    I keep forgetting that your blog name has changed, which is why I haven't been here in awhile. Sorry about that. Hopefully soon, my brain will realize the "change." :)

    At any rate, taking some time in the day to relax is always a good thing. There is nothing wrong with finding some time to "rest your weary bones." Resting helps to give us the energy we need to carry-out the tasks that need to be done in our homes.

  7. Mary, I love wooden chests, too!
    We have a large old pine one and an antique cedar one.
    They are perfect for storage, coffee tables and for putting your feet up on ;-D
    Enjoy!!

  8. I love your cozy corner. I was inspired the same way. This morning while reading, I was inspired to create a girly little corner for me to sit and read or write. As soon as I get this school term finished (Next week!), I'm going to follow the inspiration.

  9. I love it! Old chests are so full of character, aren't they? I have one in storage now and I would dearly love to have a place for it. I commandeered my cozy corner from my poor Dad - it's his favorite chair but I've taken over with all my knitterly things and now he just walks by with a big sigh and finds another place to park. He really isn't too put out as he enjoys seeing me doing something my Mum used to love to do :P

  13. Oh, that trunk is beautiful! And so is your knitting! What are you making? I love to sit on the sofa (and can be found there more often than I ought!), put my feet up and crochet or knit! Looks like a perfectly lovely place to be!
