Recipes for Garlic Syrup and its Benefits

I am DIY kind of gal and had to start doing some research for a recipe to make my own garlic syrup...among-st all the other things going on. I tend to do this when I get overwhelmed and have to flake out for a few minutes, lol. [o= And here is what I found!

Benefits of Garlic Syrup
  • This remedy is an immune stimulant
  • lowers blood pressure as well as cholesterol
  • leads to fewer colds and infections
  • helpful in conditions such as gout
  • arthritis, and joint aches.
  • It is also a good tonic for the digestive tract
  • and benefits the skin
  • and is helpful in weight loss.
  • It is beneficial for a wide range of conditions as it is a general immune stimulant and enhancer.

Garlic Syrup Recipe #1

4 bulbs garlic (approximately 50 cloves)
1 quart apple cider vinegar

Directions:

  • Peel and chop garlic. Place in a sterilized quart jar, cover with vinegar.
  • Refrigerate.
  • Shake jar daily.
  • Take 1 tablespoon up to 3 times a day (adult). Sweeten as you like if needed.

Garlic Syrup Recipe #2

3 bulbs garlic (peeled)
2 cups water
1 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup honey

Directions:

  • Add garlic and water to a non-aluminum saucepan and simmer until the water reduces to 1 cup (garlic should now be soft).
  • Remove garlic and place in a sterile jar or airtight container.
  • Add both the honey and the cider vinegar to the water in the saucepan and boil until syrupy. Pour over garlic, seal and refrigerate overnight.
  • Refrigerate and take up to one teaspoon daily.

I will be trying these out next week and if you try it out let me know how it went. [o=

Craft Fair Update:

  • The beeswax gourd candles are made and boxed
  • fudge is made, cut and wrapped
  • and now I am cleaning jars and prepping to make the rhubarb juice and raspberry rhubarb juice. ( and believe it or not having to blanch and freeze veggies and can apple sauce that are demanding to be harvest too, lol)

  1. Oh thanks...marking this down.

And yes, Mary the Word has always come first in my life...that is always where I start and the measuring rod of all my reading. I also love Jewish History and spend time learning the customs of the day to fully understand the Word also. Since my Savior was Jew, it is just wonder to see how He revealed Himself to them through so many customs and feast.

I just finished "Surprised by Grace" and had the book of Jonah opened up to me in a new way...which is leading to more research and time in Jonah....that has been a joy.

Thanks for sharing your list...it has been a fun post to read each person's list.

Thanks again for this...I am going to copy it off now. Blessings on your craft fair.

  7. You busy, busy gal! And still you took time to educate me... I've taken an odorless garlic capsule in the past... How horrible is breath after this treatment? If you can make me feel a bit of confidence on this matter I'm in! ;)

  10. O.K., so the reason we use it most is for cold and flu season and we shouldn't be getting that close to one another at that time anyway... germs you know! ;)

  11. I appreciate your research, Mary. We made a tonic last year, actually, it's called "Super Tonic" (got the recipe from Nutrition 101, our science text) which included cayenne or habanero, ginger, horseradish, onion, garlic, and apple cider vinegar -- it was terrible, YET it was affective in helping through cold and flu season. I should make up a fresh batch for this year. I think I'll try the garlic syrup, too.

    Happy blanching, freezing, canning!

    Blessings, ~Lisa

  12. Thanks for the information regarding garlic syrup. I'd never heard of it until I read your blog post. So, do you just take it like medicine, or do you put it into some of your daily food supply? Just wondering.

I forgot that you are doing that craft fair. I saw the blog post where you made all those candles, but I just didn't comment, wow! You surely have been quite busy with getting ready for this fair. I hope it proves to be profitable for you as well as fun. :)

  15. So glad you linked this one up today! (I know I missed it last time...)

I have a garlic tonic recipe from the West Ladies that I want to try...I think it had honey in it, like your Recipe #2 has, and cayenne pepper, also. That's got to be quite a kick! I don't think I'll take it Sunday morning before church (wolf-breath!!!)...

    {{{HUGS}}}, my sweet friend!
