Sharing My Finished Objects and What's In My Yarn Basket

Remember this picture? ( I started this project last summer( here is a picture of it's beginning)

Well here is (finally) the F.O. aka a "finished object".

Another F.O. is Handsome's birthday socks. Plus I have started on Luke's ( 2ds) socks.

Back when Handsome and I went south of the ( Canadian) border to Spokane Washington to our Anniversary get away. I went to Micheal's craft store to stock up my yarn basket. I got each a ball of sock yarn for Handsome, Luke, Noah and Nicolas. I picked out some pretty purple yarn to knit a Wasabi cowl for me and some yellow green yarn to knit a Tea Leaves Cardigan. And I also found in my yarn stash some spring green cotton yarn to knit me a Shalom Cardigan II too. Plus in my knitting basket is some grey and green wool for me to knit me some felted slippers. Hmmm this time round I am knitting for me... which is rare. I tend to keep busy knitting for others but not so this time. So here you have it the scoop of what has been and is on my needles.

  2. Oh, Mary! Thanks so much for the update and for the links and the photo of your finished projects! The slouch hat tuned out really cute and I'm sure your man loves the socks. :) I have a Shalom on my project list, too! Maybe we can do a knit along...think about it!

Hope you're having a good week. Blessings!

  3. Mmmm, lots of my favorite colours! I need to know how you knit so quickly. I take forevvvvver to get any knitting projects completed. I have five different ones on the go right now, but none of them are even close to being completed.

    Blessings!

    1. Ohhh I feel I knit so slow compared to others around me. I have to admit I stand knitting next to the boys as they do their lessons. Slow and steady wins the race. [o;

  4. Hi Mary! The 2nd photo (f.o. shot) is showing up "missing or deleted" from P.B., I'm itching to see it! I'll keep checking back for it :-)

What is special about sock yarn? Is it super stretchy? I can see it looks real thin, it almost looks like it's got silk in it! The socks are wonderful...I'm sure the men-folk will love them!

Last year, you mentioned to me that you had a trick to make mittens come out the same size...if you have time, could you let me/everyone know what that is? Maybe a quick post? :-) I'm sure the same would go for socks...I could see me ending up with 2 different sizes :-p

Hope you're having a lovely winter up there...we've had a couple of seriously good snows here, but they've melted or been rained away within 2 days. Nathan wants to take ski lessons...there's a little hill nearby where we can easily do it, but we could use some snow!

    1. Hi there!

I have never done it but you can crochet socks. Here is a link to a crochet sock pattern. [o=

    2. Thanks Mary! I am learning so much more this year. I like the way knitted socks look better than crochet but I can crochet better than I can knit. So I stick with what is comfy'

  8. Mary, first I have to finish my dd's scarf and a few other projects! I likely won't get to the Shalom until later summer or early fall...just in time for harvest. haha! We'll just have to make time, won't we?

Hope you had a good day, my friend,

  9. Thanks for stopping by to say hi! Nice to hear from you. I so agree about spending so much time in the kitchen--I think that doing all this soaking and fermenting and chopping, etc., really does take more time! I get so tempted sometimes to just go back to 'shortcut' food prep, but we're spoiled now with the good stuff and can't go back! Not to mention that we feel so much better! I'm researching how to make my homemade mayo with coconut oil, and found a good recipe at passionatehomemaking.com. Have you tried that version? Hope it works.

    Blessings, my sweet friend!

    1. Wendy,

It is interesting that you mention homemade mayo. I tried to make some tonight and FAILED again. uuuggghhh! I don't know what I am doing wrong but I am doing something not right. BIG ((((SIGH)))) I use to be able to make it and now I can't for some reason. double ((((sigh)))) I will have to check that recipe out very soon. I am tempted just to buy mine. But maybe I will try that recipe out soon. After I am done licking my wounded pride. [o=
